What do these ratings mean?

Well, i just started up Assassins Creed on my PS3  and for the 10th time the game locked up . Thankfully UBIsoft has acknowledged the fact that this is an issue and apparently working on a patch as we speak. However I feel the need to point out that the frame rate on the PS3 version of this game is horrendous to the point of unplayability at times. I am unclear if the patch UBI soft is working on is going to fix  this issue as well, but i highly doubt it.

I would fully agree with an A- grade for the game itself, but the technical issues on the PS3 destroy it for me. this is supposed to be the most advanced system on the market, and the game runs like its not meeting the minimum system requirements. I have posted on ubisofts message board requesting to know if they intend on fixing the frame rate issue, and have received no response. I will be returning my copy of assassins creed today due to my frustrations with the release of such an unrefined port of an Xbox 360 title.

I would be happy to purchase the game again if the performance issues are ever resolved, but for now I can not tolerate paying next gen prices for an unfinished product.

You can't blame the console for something that's the developers' fault. The patch is coming, anyway, so all that will be fixed.

feloxy if you have experienced no frame rate issues then I can guarantee that you are not running the game on a high definition television. Therefore your game is running at 480p and not 720p. The much lower resolution does increase the frame rate substantially. Unfortunately, when setting the game to run at 480p on a high definition television the graphic quality becomes exceedingly sub par.

As far as the negative comments and reviews you are all entitled to your opinion. I felt it necessary to make others aware that there are serious performance issues with this product. I was in no way faulting the PS3 for the issues with this title, my gripe is with the people at ubisoft who decide to quickly distribute an unfinished product solely for monetary gain. If no one calls developers on this, they will continue to sneak in XBOX 360 ports that are not taking advantage of the PS3's technology. There are several instances of this such as Madden, and much to my disappointment Orange Box

The patch has been released for assassins creed, and while i have not experienced any more crashes ( I did not end up returning the game as I finally received a response from ubisoft ), the frame rate is still unacceptable. This game is supposed to be about stealth and finesse. These qualities are butchered when half of the frames are cut out of the animation as you jump from building to building or scale a wall.

My rating is based on the fact that I will not accept unfinished or broken products from any developer. I feel that releasing the game in this form was an insult to every PS3 owner who purchased the title. If ubisoft truly cared about their customers these issues would alreadybe repaired, as it has been several months since assassins creeds release.

lol, I agree that no consol game should be released if it has framerate issues. Games back on the ps1/n64 days had non of these problems because developers had more time to finish there products. I would suggest getting another copy of the game to see if it is just yours or your system itself.
