When I read Joe Dodson's review on this game that used to rock 1st person shooting to another level, I believed him. Cuz hey, they're the experts right? And they play VDO games for a living (I envy you guys buy the way). But I do think the C+ given by Joe might be abit underated compared to other website reviews. After all, it is Killzone. So I bought the game to see for myself.

This third person shooter (Is it really 3rd person?) gives you a top-down-bird's-eye-view of the battlefield as you bravely slug it out against those wierdos with dark masks and seemingly terrible fasion statement for a soldier. At first the game seems easy; you move around and just shoot the bad guys. But as you progress from stage to stage, it gets more complicated (even in easy mode). Those wierdos get even wierder as they start having rocket launchers, granades, sniper rifles, and you start talking to your PSP "I want some of that stuff!"

You'll have to figure your way around, the mines, and if you have a frag to spare, you can frag the mines or gently go through them with one of those wieros firing at you with a rocket launcher. "Great, I'm stuck in a mine field, I got a Helgahst firing rockets at me, and I'm so far away from the next check point!".

The game is frustrating, true, but frustrating as it is, it only wants you to play it even more. Ok, so you die 4 or 5 times in one scenario, but its kind of fun to restart at a checkpoint and try to find another way around the situation. Take advantage of oil barrels, throw a granade on those tougher wierdos first before taking out the weaker ones, straff and cover, or change weapons in a depot to fit the certain situation, I can go on forever, but this game just makes everything that sounds/looks complicated, surprisingly simple, and thats cool.

Infact, its the simplicity of the game that makes it fun and frustrating. Simple, and with a generous variety of weapons and arsenals. You can drive tanks, mount on turrets, and unlock lots of cool goodies to make life easier for you in the battlefield. The graphics are good, and the sound is great especially if you have your earphones on.

Overall its a good solid addition to the Killzone title. Its fun to play even if its abit too short. The frustration can actually be fun. Makes you wanna go over it again til you get it right. If you're a fan of Killzone, or just need a short rush of adrenaline, grab this game. Its worth your time and money.

Peace...
