The need for speed series has been around for ages, from the days of the hot pursuit tio the new underground series. Now with the PSP released, the underground series goes portable with need for speed undrground:rivals. The formula of the game is similar to underground as in you get to pick a car and trick it out a number of ways which is kinda cool.
After picking your first low level car you get to pick between a variety of different races such as drag, drift, circuit etc. All of these offer something a little different but after a while they all start to become extremely repetitive.
The game has local ad-hoc wireless play for up to 4 player multiplayer but this game would have greatly benifited from infrastructure mode.
One big flaw in the game is the fact that there is no free roam mode; you just a pick a race and your faced with a 30 second load screen. Also there is not a huge varitey of tracks and once you've been around the block a few times it gets boring.
The customization features are good but not quiet as robust as the console versions. There is also a fair selection of cars including the corvette Z06 and the 1967 mustang
All in all this is a fair game with a decent selection of cars, a good customizaiton system but lags in online play and sheer depth.
