Golf Solves All Problems

Just so you all know, this game is called "Pangya: Golf with Style" in the UK. Dont think either names are good. The plots aren't great either (yes a golf game with plots), according to this, if you want to join the Navy you must win a golf tournament!

So the very basics of the game is to swing a golf club. You can either use your wiimote, or do it arcade style by pressing a button for desired power, then again for desired accuracy. I personally prefer the button style because I suck at swinging the wiimote - but it's up to you of course (GOLF course wahay)! The wiimote swing isn't bad or anything, it's just if you dont swing straight, or dont follow-thorugh, then you end up ****ing up your entire hole - I do not have the patience to deal with that!

The gameplay involves playing a tournament called "Pangya Festa", playing stroke play tournaments, and playing match play tournaments. In Pangya Festa, you start off as a boy called Scout merely playing for the top! As you win more, you unlock more characters, clubs, clothes, balls, even caddies! You can then play as these new characters to unlock even more of the same stuff. The plots for some of these characters are quite strange, you play golf to join the Navy, you play golf to find your love at first sight, and you even play golf to conquer the King of Darkness!

No matter how cheesy the plot, and the dialogue is, it always makes you want to find out what happens! So you play your heart out everytime, and when you're not successful, you will break things in rage.

The things you unlock effect your character's stats as well. The clubs you use, the caddie by your side, and even the very clothes you wear change your power, acuuracy, control, spin , and curve attributes! And it is fun dressing up your chracter to not only be good at golf, but to look awesome as well. There are some original costumes around as well!

Incase you cant see, the game is done in an anime style. The characters are well-made and original. they aren't the most detailed graphics, but overall it looks good to look at. The courses vary from playing on a beach, to playing on a Navy Flagship - so a lot of creativity in the game. There is a problem with slow-down however! Whenever there's a text box appearing during gameplay, it slows down the framerate majorly. It never happens during your shot, but it does when you're preparing and it can be fairly tedious at times!

The music is very cheesy. It's the typical music you'd find in a game you've never heard of. But you actually get used to this cheesy environment, and get heavily sucked into the game! Before you know it, you're humming to it, and you're friends are telling you to shut up.

Multiplayer is available for this! And it is a lot of fun. You can obviously choose your character and have them wear and use whatever. But when with your mates it becomes a great golf game to play, and before you know it, it's 1am and you're wanting more! You can also do power shots (such as the Tomohawk and the Cobra shot), and curve your ball to ridiculous rates. So it really is golf with style! Some of the courses are a large challenge! There can be obstacles that you must curve dramatically just to stay on land and not O.B. It's funny when in multiplayer, and the top player has +21 however! You could say it's like mini-golf...but on a normal golf scale.

This is one of those games that needs a bit of time to get into. When you first play it you think why the hell you spent £20-odd on the game. But after a few hours you get really into it, and especially when you play it with your friends - it becomes an excellent multiplayer. The only bad thing is the damn slow-down, would've thought with the current-gen consoles we would be rid of it by now! Cant be helped. So if you're really into golf or anime (as they have great images you can unlock) then I'd say this is a good game for you to buy. So go ahead and tee off to your nearest game store....WITH STYLE!
