I would have given Battlefield Bad Company a B - rather than a grade in the C's.
This game plays out like a PG-13 rated version of CALL of DUTY 4. Its funny at times because of the humorous characters, but the action of a gunfight doesn't fail to impress you with big explosions, loud gunfire and frantic runs for cover.
But, what does truly dissapoint is the lack of blood sprays and pools from the enemy. There isn't enough maturity here for a "war" game in the face of real life warfare going on right now where we see people coming home in pieces or burned beyond recognition.
Bad Company's saving grace is its damage engine which allows holes to be blown in the sides of most structures with grenades, yet oddly, wooden crates can withstand entire air strikes.
I feel that what's missing from the first Person Shooter genre is a mix of gore physics found in the original SOLDIER OF FORTUNE added to a dash of CALL OF DUTY 4. So many FPS games have been released within the past year, but almost all of them feel like HALO or like Call of Duty. console gamers judge all FPS's bygames of this quality but have yet to experience the best of all aspects of FPS games since the technology isn't there yet to have a full helping of the realistic violence that makes FPS games shine.
Bad Company certainly doesn't raise the bar set by CoD4 but it doesn't hurt either. Its a good option for Parents who refuse to buy M rated games.

| BigTruck says what I couldn't think to say. um, good. It feels weird shooting all these people in a war zone without a more mature depiction. Good post! |
