What do these ratings mean?

Stenches... Zombies... Zeds... Living Dead... Undead... Call them what you want the fact remains that they are our favorite fear/guilty pleasure... You never feel bad no matter what you do to them... In all honesty it amuses us to no end to see these things suffer... Due to that seemingly obvious reason I fell in love with Dead Rising... That impalment-on-an-auger type love... I had very few things to complain about with this game... For the most part I found myself waiting for some giant glaring issue to pop up and ruin it all like it has so many times before (damn you world saviors and your inability to jump)... I was left waiting for said error/bug... The game is not perfect but god damn if it doesn't get closer then the ill fated and atrocious Gundam series... Oh i never thought disembowelment could be so darn funny...

The controls are nothing new but because of this anyone can pick up the controller and mutilate corpses sans soul... It does get a bit tricky though when you need to jump from freezer to freezer in the supermarket and frank suddenly decides that he doesn't feel like going to the left because the camera is pointing right... of course that is a problem easily overlooked due to the now commonplace mishandling of camera angling and controls... This is quite the popular problem and even my six year old son can work around it... When you become the badass that your inner child fears the moves are instinctive after the first go round... Controls get a 8.9 because in the year 2006 we should be able to fix a camera...

Government Experiments... Homeland Security... Clowns with Chainsaws... The story was by and far one of the best I've seen in a long time... granted its not shakespeare or even JK Rowling but that is the reason its so good... we're not talking about an epic battle between good and evil... just a conspiracy and a camera... Two things that never go good together because one of them usually ends up broken wide open with its insides strewn about... It was original and thats a rarity amongst anything zombie... it was actually plausible... the story i mean... not the results... throughout the game you discover more and more that makes you look back and say "oh I get it now"... Due to the pure number of oh s**t moments included in this game I give the story a 9.9... Sorry guys the ending left me hanging and I hate that shat...

What is more satisfying then watching five hundred life challenged beings wander around aimlessly... I know that sounds like a load of horseshoes but the simple fact that each and every one of those heartbeatless individuals can be taken apart with extreme predjudice or simply ignored and ran past is just super... Obviously due to the sheer number of people without pulses their is going to be some that are simliar or in most cases exactly the same... It worries me that the entire Williamette PD are fat, white, and bald… Prehaps people of color are scarce in Colorado (Isn’t that right Kobe)… The Gruesome Visuals in Dead Rising receives a 8.3 due to one of the apparent side effects of Zombification is becoming a badly dressed unbreathing person of rot…

And the verdict is a respectable yet deceptive 9.0… Just barely good enough for A Squad and yet an MVP in our hearts…
