Graphics- This game’s graphics are very good. The frame rate is solid, and there are not too many times where the game glitches. I have experienced some strange things with the graphics, but it doesn’t happen very much. The players look very good, and on an HDTV, it looks amazing. The players move pretty fluidly, except for when they are turning. I don’t understand how you can run around in a circle at full tilt without leaning. I know it doesn’t make sense to run in a circle, but it is one of many pointless things I have tried. Overall-B+ Gameplay-
The gameplay in Madden 07 is decent. I can’t say that the superstar mode is great, but it is entertaining as a running back or quarterback. Superstar mode is good, not great. I liked it when you could choose your own plays and control all members of the team. In this version of Madden, it is third person, and the camera is always on you. You don’t choose your own plays and it can be annoying if you dislike the play call. The franchise mode is as deep as it has ever been, but I have some problems with the trading. My friend and I started a franchise as the Titans. We immediately wanted to trade for a great receiver. We didn’t turn off fair trades, but we managed to get Randy Moss for Lendale White and a second round draft pick. This was funny at the time, but now that I think about it, it doesn’t make much sense at all. Other than the trading, the franchise is good. Online play is fun, but at the same time, frustrating. It lags every once and a while, and if your opponent quits, you can’t just walk out of the game with a win, you have to either quit and don’t count the game, or you can finish it against the computer on All-Pro difficulty. Overall- B- Sound- Where should I begin on the sound? The announcer who does the announcing is very repetitive and far too enthusiastic about the game. In my NBA 2K7 review, I didn’t count repetition against it because the announcers have a wide variety of things to say. In this game, I will count it, because if you hear the same thing come out of the announcers mouth fifteen times in a half, that’s not a good sign. Now, going back to the over enthusiastic aspect. I was playing in the Super Bowl, I didn’t feel like saving, so I set the difficulty to All Madden. I was winning by six with thirty five seconds left. I was out of field goal range, and decided to pass on third and long. I got trapped in the pocket, I couldn’t throw the ball and my quarterback got hit. The ball popped out of his hands and the announcer goes, “He drops the football.” Then, they return the ball for a touchdown and the announcer goes, “They score on a fumble with little time left in regulation.” This announcer is supposed to be rooting for you because when you pick up fumbles, he says something along the lines of, “The good guys have the football.” When, he said the part about the fumble recovery, he said it like it was the best thing that had ever happened to my franchise. Overall- D
Madden 07 for the Xbox 360 is a decent game, with absolutely horrible sound. The only reason I give it a C+ is because I am a huge fan of the series. This game was disappointing to me and many other madden fans everywhere. + Graphics are amazing - Ridiculous trading - Sound so bad you should mute the TV - Isn’t even as good as Madden 05
Again, sorry about scrunchyness.
