While younger gamers have flocked to the brand, more mature consumers remain reluctant to jump on board. Skylanders move forward with trappable enemies, though I doubt it’ll turn stubborn heads.

I have and will continue to have a place in my heart for Nintendo. In fact, my first console was a Super Nintendo. The video game market has changed drastically since the early '90s and it seems like what once was platinum is more so along the lines of silver now. Nintendo has always been...

What do these ratings mean?

Lately E.A. has been kind of a bully dont you think?Completly buying the NFL license so they will get no other competition. Kinda sounds like cheating to me(Well maybe they decided to hire Bill Bellichick as their new owner).Even still Madden 08 still brings great gameplay and overall joy to football fans everywhere.

Campaign/Story

4 out of 5

Because this is a sports game you dont really get a story mode. You do however get modes such as Superstar and Dynasty. In Superstar you get to make(or choose a rookie from the 07 class) and play his career and attempt to make it into the elusive Hall Of Fame. This is a fun mode because you get to play only your character so when you get the ball all focus is on you(which is pretty cool). In dynasty you know the drill by now. You play as a GM for your selected football team and you completly run the show. You control trades, finances, tabloids, the whole lot. There is also a Fantasy Draft mode where you control your team and can hand pick your players. Overall these are all great modes to play with so it deserves a great score.

Audio

4 out of 5

Of course E.A. gets all the new up and coming stars to play for their exclusive sountrack. You get such bands such as Queens of The Stone age and The Hives.  Now you get to hear the players chat more on the field and you could also hear what plays the other team might run. You get great sounds when you hit other players and the refs sound good as well. The audio is well put together even though its not a major component in the game.

Graphics

5 out of 5

The graphics in 08 look amazing. You really get to see the shine off of the players helmets and see the crowds react to big plays or complete screw ups. The player models all move great and very realisticly like the players in the real NFL. It wouldve been cool to see the fans get a little more involved in the game but they do have their moments here and there. Even though there isnt too much of an improvment from 07, the small changes that they did are well done and should be commended.

Gameplay

4 out of 5

Even still you get the same modes from 07, the modes themselves do have all their own small update. All the modes work well and responsive but it wouldve been cool to see something a little more fresh. You do get a new mode called Skill Drills but those arent really that fun. Its fun to play against each other(a little more on that in a sec) but single player should be more fun. The control scheme is the same as before but  now the "truck" stick is called the "highlight" stick. Maybe E.A. couldnt buy the license for truckers, oh well. All jokes aside, gameplay is solid and should be enjoyed a lot.

Online

5 out of 5

Like allways E.A. has great online sports games. Even if Madden 08 is missing some modes or originality they are still very fun. Its allways fun to play against another play online and see which team is better(*cough* Saints *cough*). It deserves recognition though for solid online like always but E.A. should come up with something more. Overall great experience but Im sure I speak for everyone when I say Im getting tired of paying 55 bucks for new roster and maybe slightly better graphics.

Overall

B+. This game is great and should not be mocked otherwise. However Its time for E.A. to think of something new before we all get bought out by them. I recommend this game to football fans or sports lovers but It should be warned that there is nothing too much new here.
