What do these ratings mean?

It's a kick ass game, indeed, the thing is i can beat all bosses and characters except for the emporer. I've been fighting him for the past three days, and he wont die! when i do the button combo junk i could press all the right buttons but it just says i pressed it wrong! like it says X i press X immediatly, it gives him health and i die!
