Tenchu Z offers more than 50 stealth ninja missions set in ancient Japan
The game deals with stealh combat and the art of killing some missions are straightforward assassinations and others deal with scouring the map. When not killing, you'll use ninjitsu to safely escort contacts, to retrieve items or to meet with confidential sources.
Story is loosely based on these assignments are they are loosely strung together by a narrative that slowly unfolds via brief cut scenes and a few scattered lines of text. Story has stuffs to do with Civil war and Clan wars blah blah. I didnt care to follow it.
The main enjoyment aspect of the game is creeping in the shadows . There's a wide choice of stealth kills, combos, special abilities and weapons , and more are unlocked as you grind through missions. But it is soon apparent that Tenchu Z requires neither skill nor its vast armory. All u gotta do is stick to the rooftops, reach ur objective and finsih ur assignment.
Killing enemies with utter stealth will give u points for buffing up ur character
Graphically, this game is embarrasment,. I felt like i was playing this game on my ancient Xbox.It seems as if Tenchu 2 from the PS2 was directly ported to this platform
The enemy AI is non existent, and dispatching them is an easy task for a ninja like you.Their patrol paths are fixed and u can more than easily pawn them.Fun in the begining, but soon u realize killing can get daunting
Sound is , well ok.Its a stealth game, it has to be very silent right?
Missions are aplenty, but they lack variety.I kinda forced my way till the end.Its not a challenging game after all.
All in all, this game gave hope to tenchu 2 fans (like me). Tenchu 2 had the visuals and stealth fun in those days, which erased its shortcomings.
But right now, on the 360, Tenchu "Z" remains 25 steps behind "A" (Zomg what a cool line!!)
