When word hit that Naughty Dog's future project, The Last of Us, has been in production for two years, many gamers scratched their heads in confusion and then called out shenanigans on the developer. Surely this is why there were all those aiming issues in Uncharted 3, right? It was because the team was working on two games at once!
That's only half true.
Naughty Dog was working on Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us at the same time, but with two different teams. Some time after Uncharted 2 released, Naughty Dog split into two teams like a giant amoeba. One team put their all into Uncharted 3, and the other focused solely on The Last of Us. The Uncharted team is still only working on the Uncharted series; currently their focus is on additional content for Uncharted 3.
In other words, we're going to have twice the Naughty Dog excitement to look forward to in the next coming years, and it won't be just Nathan Drake--even though Drake is loved and adored by many. It's always nice to have some variety every now and then.
