2K Games Saves The Day Again

Posted on Wednesday, June 15 @ 17:18:06 Eastern by
The PR for 2K Games has had to make more than a few *cough* corrections today involving Duke Nukem Forever. Beyond the Twitter fiasco with Redner Group, YouTube user MasterOfAudioSurf had his account suspended after he had put up some footage of the game. He was, of course, livid. Luckily, 2KGames resolved the matter with YouTube and also gave him a surprise within 12 hours. (And he's in Australia!)

2K has gradually become one of my favorite developers over the past few years. This video just kinda solidifies them as all around cool guys. You stay classy 2K.

Them and THQ, only good people left. They did that marriage video as well right, with claptrap.

What they're doing to X-COM is unforgivable.

You know, I saw XCOM at E3 and I just wasn't that impressed. It's like Mass EffeXCOM. I think it's 2K Marin's attempt to say "We can do something cool too!"

If you think people are livid about BF3 and Origin, I've never seen such an intense dislike of a game as this.
I think most of us X-Com fans could live with it if they would just change the name to something like X-Com: Paradox

They tried to prove that it was an X-Com game at E3 and still failed, I wonder what they're going to do about it now?

I'm a huge X-Com fan but I don't get why they're even bothering calling the game X-Com. I mean, I don't think the series have that huge of a fan base to warrant a reboot to begin with.

About six or seven years ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. Her side of the family organized a benefit that included a silent auction. I figured I'd chip in a few bucks and bid on something. One object that caught my eye was a PC game by the name of "X-Com: Terror of the Deep." I'd never heard of it before, but I won the bid and paid $20 for it and had some good times with it. I wish I could remember what I did with it. I also paid another $15 for a copy of Hexen.

I don't think the series has even sold a million units altogether. This is just another series that's been completely ****ed up by publishers and developers that prefer to use tried and true game genres rather than the established ones for what ever game they are marketing. It always turns out to be trash, without fail.

    Goodbye Fallout, X-Com, C&C, etc...

Hate to break it to you, but fallout is alive and kicking, Bethesda saved it after interplay drove it into the ground and shoved acid down its throat with there last fallout game.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Fallout 3, but New Vegas was a step in the right direction. I consider it a ruined genre just as much as C&C and X-Com at this point. I mean it was well made, but it wasn't a true fallout experience. Prostitution, child killing, addiction, and killing people for nothing were just symptoms of the over-all intention of the game, and they just took those out. It would be like making a Postal game into a PG13 experience.
