THQ CEO States The Obvious

I can't help but laugh when I read/hear people make official statements that are so damn obvious. It's actually why I didn't write up a story on a former Sony employee's resume saying that the PlayStation 4 has been in development for the last two years. A hardware manufacturer that manufactures new hardware? THAT'S MADNESS! Today, however, I couldn't resist highlighting the latest tidbit from THQ's CEO, Brian Farrell, in his interview with Gamasutra.

Since the company is in dire straights (an understatement of the year), Farrell explained that THQ must run "flawlessly" from here on out.

"We don't have a lot of room to run, so we've got to execute flawlessly," he said.

Ya think?

"We want to show the shareholders that the heavy lifting is done," he continued. "I've been doing this long enough to know that at the end of the day, the product will drive the stock price. When it willhappen, we don't control that. So the focus is on getting great products both in the near term and the long term."

I guess that  I'm glad you know it all falls back on great products? So was that the problem before? You were only focused on so-so products?

I know it's difficult to answer such guided questions that the interview obviously asked, but I still can't help but chuckle at how obvious it all is. Thank you, Mr. Farrell, for making it abundantly clear what needs to happen for THQ in the future.
