According to a new rumor, Bayonetta 3 will be releasing in 2018, potentially in the summer window. This is but one of the many rumors that have been spreading like wildfire regarding the upcoming January Nintendo Direct that is supposedly coming next week on Thursday, January 11th.
This latest rumor about when Bayonetta 3 will release comes from Reddit user _darth_solo. In a post on the popular social site earlier today, the user detailed that their "reliable source" has confirmed to them that the game will release no later this year, specifically in the summer, "barring a disaster."
The credibility for the rumor has been confirmed by official Reddit mod FlapSnapple who in a separate comment noted that they have verified with the user. The user supposedly has the credentials that would allow them to make this statement with "reasonable accuracy." In addition, _darth_solo had something to say regarding the upcoming January Direct as a whole.
Bayonetta 3 is just one of the many games that will be featured in the upcoming January 11th Nintendo Direct. According to the same Reddit user, this Direct is set to be a major event to kick off 2018 for Nintendo. They even go so far as to say that it will be on the level of an actual Nintendo E3 showcase.
This is a bold statement, but one that is possible considering that there are placeholders on Amazon for 18 unannounced Switch games that have since been taken down. Thanks to ResetEra, we still have the above picture confirming them. However, we do know some of the other already announced games that will be featured in the Direct.
Though Amazon has removed the placeholder listings, it has replaced them with preorders for games we already know that are coming in 2018 like the new Kirby and Yoshi games. Interestingly enough, Metroid Prime 4 is listed as coming this year and Project Octopath Traveler has a placeholder picture that reveals that its official name (and most likely release date) will be announced at the January 11th Nintendo Direct.
