E3 2018: NieR Automata Coming to Xbox One

One of 2017’s most beloved titles, NieR Automatais making its way to Xbox One. Previously a PS4 exclusive, it was revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2018 conference that Xbox One owners would be treated to NieR: Automata Become as Gods Edition which is available on the digital storefront with a release date of  June 26. That includes both the base game as well as additional content not found in the original release.

Despite being leaked inadvertently by Square Enix themselves earlier today, it’s nice to have official confirmation of what was one of PlayStation 4’s strongest console exclusives.

NieR Automata Become as Gods Edition Content:

  • Base NieR: Automata game
  • The 3C3C1D119440927 expansion DLC
  • Grimoire Weiss Pod
  • Retro Red Pod Ski
  • Retro Grey Pod Ski
  • Cardboard Pod Ski
  • The Machine Lifeform Mask Accessory

For the uninitiated, Nier Automata follows two androids, 2B and 9S, as they mop up the remnants of machines that have plagued a post-apocalyptic Earth. It’s so much more than that, however. Acting like a cross between the best combat and aesthetic beats of Devil May CryMetal Gear Solid and Bayonetta, the game rightfully received critical and fan acclaim upon its release in March 2017. Dipping into existentialism, philosophy, and even post-modern shots at the video game medium itself, it’s a game that simply has to be experienced, and now Xbox One owners can do just that in two weeks’ time. Mark your calendars, people: June 26.

The name itself, Become as Gods, comes from a fairly spoiler-y place in the game’s lore so, for those those new to the series, be sure to tread with caution when it comes to Googling that particular phrase. This is a game where you absolutely must not have the story spoiled for you.

Nier Automata Become as Gods Edition is available to pre-order right now on Xbox One for $49.99.
