3DS Hits Record Sales Figures

Posted on Tuesday, March 29 @ 14:44:58 Eastern by

If you clicked on this hoping to see exact sales numbers, you'll be disappointed. If you clicked on this hoping to feel left out because you don't have a 3DS yet, congratulations! You made the right choice.

The 3DS went on sale on Sunday in the North Americas, last Friday in Europe and over a month ago in Japan. Nintendo of America isn't wasting anytime getting the word out on how successful the launch went in their sector.

US day-one sales numbers for the Nintendo 3DS were the highest of any Nintendo hand-held system in our history. More details about US sales numbers will be made public on April 14, when first-week US sales figures will be tallied by the independent NPD Group. Nintendo worked hard to get as much product as possible to retailers on day one to meet demand, and we will continue with these efforts moving forward.

The Gamestop by where I live didn't have any 3DS left in stock when I was there yesterday, but they did offer to give me a reserve on a 3DS in their next shipment. Have you seen boxes and boxes of the handheld in your local games retailer or is Nintendo's latest hardware a total sell-out?

Game Revolution's review of the Nintendo 3DS is now live here.
