The NCAA has decided to not renew its contract with Electronic Arts, which now prohibits EA Sports from using the NCAA name or logo in any future college football games. The contract will expire in June of next year.
A statement was released in regards to why the NCAA made this decision, saying, “given the current business climate and costs of litigation, we determined participating in this game is not in the best interests of the NCAA.”
However, that isn't stopping EA Sports from working on a new college football game for release in 2014 without the NCAA branding. Executive VP Andrew House has since spoken out to assure gamers that they “will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks.”
