76 Million Xbox 360s, 24 Million Kinects Sold Worldwide

Posted on Tuesday, February 12 @ 10:15:04 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Microsoft has just announced current sales figures for its gaming hardware. According to the Xbox manufacturer, a total of 76 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide.

The company's motion-sensing peripheral is no slouch either, with a total of 24 million Kinects being sold since launch. Not only that, but Microsoft continues to prosper in the online gaming space, with a whopping 46 million Xbox Live subscribers.

Let's hope all this positivity doesn't prevent Microsoft from revealing their plans for next-gen in the very near future. With Sony poised to make a massive announcement on the 20th, one can expect the Big M to follow suit very soon.

They weren't ambiguous, in the article it says that the subscription number includes gold and silver members.

76 million sold worldwide? Assuming everyone has luck like I do with 360's that's what? 7 or 8 people replacing their console every time it breaks?

I really do wonder how many they have sold, not including replacements for faulty hardware that is.

sure there are alot of replacements... ive had 7 xbox 360 during its life time...
but how many people do you think are idiots that waste money???
ive paid $100 for my warranty and it lasts from 360 launch till 2014...
all of my 360's have been replaced for free... since ive had so many problems, instead of me sending in my xbox and being without a game system, they send me a new unit and i just send out the old one...

(for the record their customer service is excellent, and to new buyers, the microsoft warranty in box is much better than store warranty's)
my luck has been better lately this last xbox is going 1 1/2 years strong, no sign of any issues...

so im sure at least 75% of their sales are 1st time consoles... people really cant be that stupid... especially in this f**ked up economy...

I see your point, but there are also people out there that use the old switcheroo method... buy a 360, when it dies, front the cash for another, return the broken one, vuala new Xbox... and that counts as a sale my freind...

true... i have a friend that did this a long time ago with his playstation... i forgot people did that... my whole point being, i doubt the # of replacements = around 50% of 360's sales like many online would have people believe...

and regardless of what percentage of sales are replacements 76 million sold is quite impressive... especially considering the RROD problem...

2 here. and thats the exact amount of 360's i bought. I had friends that went through far more than myself. To be fair though I never bought the elite version when it came out so I don't know if that models failure rate did any better
