EA Says OK to a 3-Way: IP, Platform, Talent

It's plain to see that Electronic Arts is a venerable force in the video game industry. You could make the argument that they have a portfolio of talent and IP that can't be matched. Aside from their sports franchises, EA has yet to flog the creative force out of their developers with yearly releases from their EA Games label. With the EA Partners label supporting risky steps in other areas of the company, what's in EA's future?

Riccitiello detailed the plan for the company's investors yesterday. EA will follow three pillars of growth including IP:

[B]uilding roughly twelve franchises into year-round businesses across a range of platforms, packaged goods, and digital.

Platform:

[B]uilding a solid ecosystem for leveraging our content and services, focusing on our own platform, Origin, while supporting our retail partners.

and Talent:

[I]nvesting in our creative and engineering talent to drive and maintain our IP across multiple platforms from console to social and PC to mobile.

Of course, we're talking Madden, Battlefield, Sims, FIFA, Dead Space, and the developers behind those franchises. We're also talking about Origin.... just Origin. Urrrrghhh OK, EA, Origin... sure.
