Activision Locks Paintball Mode in GoldenEye, Now GameStop Exclusive

Posted on Friday, October 14 @ 12:39:38 Eastern by

What used to be earned or just free is now a pre-order bonus.

In the original GoldenEye 007, you could earn Paintball Mode by beating the Dam on Secret Agent in less than 2 minutes and 40 seconds or just entering the cheat code. In the Wii remake, it was unlocked right from the start. But for the upcoming GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, it's now been turned into an exclusive GameStop pre-order bonus, as reported by GiantBomb:

For online multiplayer, paintball is exclusive to Gamestop consumers, you can’t get it without an unlock code. It’s still available as an offline mode for Mi6 Ops missions.

This is a minor gripe, for sure, but why lock content that's already on the disc and already in the original? Why not lock content that's actually extra?

Stop stepping over all of our memories, please.

This sort of sh*t just got out of hand. People, stop buying these stupid games (read boycott) until developers/publishers stop doing this sort of sh*t, otherwise who knows the kind of crap they'll pull on consumers in the future.

Just when GameStop does something smart (gamerevolution.com/news/gamestop-giving-batman-arkham-city-used-purchasers-catwoman-pass-for-free-8925), they turn around and do something stupid.

Last things I preordered in my life time, Final Fantasy 7 and the Nintendo 64. Have a little patience, dont preorder, dont buy from these friggin stores... idk read a book, call your Grandma, teach your younger siblings table manners. If the consumers didnt go so batshit crazy for preorders way back this wouldnt even be an issue. Youve created your own monster, it was raping your wallet ... and now your childhood memories.

I have only made one pre-order in my entire 48 years: Skyrim. So don't blame me. BTW both my Grandma's have passed, and I was the baby of the family.
