Adam Sessler Leaves G4

Posted on Wednesday, April 25 @ 12:54:16 Eastern by

Adam Sessler, gaming personality and long-time host of X-Play since 1998 along with Morgan Webb, has officially left G4. Sessler's representative has a statement regarding his departure:
Television personality Adam Sessler and TV network G4 are parting ways, with Adam's last episode as host of G4's "X-Play" airing on the network today, Wednesday, April 25. Adam has been hosting the show since it first aired as ZDTV's "Gamespot TV" in July 1998 and he also served as Editor In Chief of games content at G4. His current projects include starring as himself in the Summer 2012 movie "noobz" and consulting with a film production company on theatrical feature adaptations of video games. Adam intends to stay in front of the camera and continue as a key voice within the games industry. He also sings and is available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
According to Kotaku, Adam Sessler has left due to a "contractual dispute" and his departure "was not on amicable terms".

I never watched much G4 at all, but Sessler always seemed like he was out of place in the shows. Seemed like he really did know his stuff and did care about video games as a hobby. Can't say I'll miss him though as I haven't watched G4 in years (even then it was mostly for ninja warrior).

Sessler really does know his stuff. Much respect due to him. Hopefully he goes on to do bigger and better things. I wonder who is going to replace him?

His was the only opinion that made any sense.

You should throw your hat in the arena Anthony... Then you can make all the money and use it to lure the fabled females to our Sarlac pit of nerds

He has been in the gaming industry for a great time, but I didn't much care for his reviews. He sounded biased in my opinion, because he worked for G4. Maybe if he was here at GR, I may have looked differently on him. It's irritating that he left due to a "contractual dispute." I thought he was already wealthy enough. Hell, wished I had a job like his.

I agree with UghRochester on the Sess. G4 actually went to crap around 2005-2006 and I never watched the channel again. Screensavers turned into Attack of the Show and sucked, plus all those other great shows were gone. RIP

The interesting thing about this is that Sessler is going to leave just fine. He could get a job anywhere. G4, however, is screwed.

This is really a long time coming, however. Sessler is much better than G4.

The only people who watch G4 are the ones who can't wait to see trailers online.

As far as being a network for GAMERS, G4 has been pretty screwed for the past few years. When I think of a nerdy video game channel I'm thinking I can turn it on at 11 at night and see game trailers, not trailers in the background of "Cops."

Bummer. The Sess will be missed. I always thought he was very knowledgeable on the subject of games. Hopefully he will move onto bigger and better things.

I agree with KevinS. G4 is annoying as of late. I don't want to see Bomb Patrol Afghanistan, Cops, or have it shoved in my face when watching a gaming channel. Also, Attack of the Show is only watchable for certain segments, and XPlay only devotes a short amount of time to reviews anymore.

The only reason I'd go to the G4 website was to watch Adam Sessler get on his soapbox.

To all of you bemoaning G4's programing, I can remember when MTV ran music videos 24/7. That's the way of all cable networks they go to where the most money is.

Agreed! They should change their name to RTV, since all they show is crappy "Reality" TV anymore.

I'm somewhat surprised to see Sessler leave G4. It seemed to me like him and Morgan Webb were invested into G4 because of how integrated they had made themselves in the network instead of a single TV show.

Now while I cannot say I cared for that, I do acknowledge that G4 is definitely losing an important face. I wish him the best.

X-Play was the only show on G4 that I was willing to watch. The humor was top notch and always kept me coming back, and the reviews were fairly helpful. At least I stopped watching a few years back, both the show and the network, or else I'd have to be sad all over again. G4 losing him is like NBC losing Conan (not that I watch Conan); clearly he was one of their best assets.
