E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Agent 47 Is The "Ultimate Assassin" In The Latest Trailer For Hitman: Absolution

Posted on Friday, November 9 @ 09:44:59 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

IO Interactive's upcoming stealth action title Hitman: Absolution launches in just a few weeks, and Square Enix has released a brand-new trailer to get you hyped for its release.

The video above, dubbed "Ultimate Assassin", highlights Agent 47's suite of abilities, which you the player will be able to take advantage of throughout the course of Absolution. However, those who want to make the game unbelievably difficult (and in my opinion, no longer fun) can opt out of using 47's stealthy sixth sense. Hey, it's your funeral.

Hitman: Absolution launches on November 20th for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

I've been waiting for this title all year, and I feel like it's been so under hyped. I think people who bother to pay attention are going to find a game of the year contender. Funny how Agent 47 has snuck up on us.

I haven't really followed this game as much as I should, except for the horror that was the sexy nun death-squad. The early games didn't really interest me because the controls seemed to be awful, but Blood Money was just a great game, with fantastic dark humor and mission settings.

So, yeah, I have high hopes for Absolution, unless it really does have sexy nun death-squads.

I think the 'red target' in the corn/crop field *is* a sexy nun death-squad member...

If by unbelievably difficult and no longer fun, you mean "how every single Hitman game was, and the basic point of the series," then I'd agree with you. But while the killing guards indiscriminately and knowing where everything is is fun, it's not Hitman. The games have always been about watching everyone's patterns, using them to your advantage, sneaking in without taking a life, hiding the bodies that you do create, and so on. So while I'm sure this game is good, it's really hard to tell from the trailers if it's going to have that level of focus to it, especially since every trailer is about shooting people and blowing stuff up.

If its anything like the previous games (and I think it very much is) you can still mark out guard patterns and replay the level to your hearts desire (in my case, no bodies, no shots fired, no witnesses). They've already said you can turn all the assists off and with them off it'll probably be like your first time playing any of the others. You won't know at first but after a while you'll see the AI paths and accidents, etc.
I think this game will be just as good without the assists.

The other thing too is that all the older games had the map and the map showed hints and your targets. I look at 47s Instincts as a more visual "map"

Release date getting closer and closer. I usually don't but definitely getting the "special edition" for this one. Definitely been my most hyped game this year. I finally get a reason to stop playing Blood Money! I think the most exciting part of this game is that it looks like they've improved on so much but have stayed true to their roots! Can't wait for the 20th!

I really want to fire above one of those massive crowds and see what happens. Are those 50+ person mobs seriously in-game?

Alas, no XP support means no buy for a while.

I played/replayed the past 4 Hitman games this year, so I'm really looking forward to this. I think the instinct is a good, more 'natural' replacement for the omniscient map of the previous games. From what I can tell the AI has been really stepped up, so guard paths might be less predictable.

As far as shooty traliers go, that's what sells games, hiding & waiting is tense gameplay but not so exciting to watch. Previous Hitman games have always offered a more violent approach & level replays so that you can experience some different ways of finishing the level before aquiring the coveted Silent Assassin rating. I don't think trailers with explosions & messy kills betrays the true content of the game because the Hitman experience has always offered both violent & silent options. Having said that, none of theses trailers have really sold me on the game. The gameplay footage I've seen is what has convinced me it's worth buying.
