In a world dominated by violent media, Americans are no more eager to go to war than they were in the 1980s or the 1960s or the 1940s. Hasn't it always been someone else's problem? The overwhelming majority would rather go on thinking it had nothing to do with them and there...

Ancel Discusses How Beyond Good & Evil 2 Will Take Advantage Of Next-Gen Hardware

Posted on Wednesday, July 17 @ 13:00:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Rayman creator Michel Ancel recently shed light on his much anticipated sequel to Beyond Good & Evil, which Ubisoft teased several years ago at E3 2008.

At this point it's fairly obvious that the folow-up will be coming to next-generation gaming hardware, so while fans have had a lot of waiting to do, the benefits that come along with new technology will undoubtedly result in a far better product.

Speaking to IGN, Ancel explained why:

I think we were doing something too big for this period. Honestly, it was too challenging to put that on [current] consoles. I don’t say the consoles were not good enough, I don’t say the team was not good enough, but you have to scale what you want to do and the console itself.

I think now with those new consoles arriving, yes, we want to try again making that game. I would say it’s surprising, as we want it to be. Not just a sequel, but something that really makes all the ideas that we had for the first one possible now with these consoles.

He went on to detail how player freedom will be a huge focus in the sequel, adding:

In this kind of game, while you’re investigating, you don’t want to investigate in a story that has been written by the developers. My feeling is that you want to investigate with your own way of investigating. I like the freedom of choosing your vehicles, flying away with the spaceship and all those things.

It was in Beyond Good & Evil 1 but it was not as much as we wanted. I like the fact that if you want to fly from one city to another, one planet to another, it’s something that you should be able to do. That freedom and the world of Beyond Good & Evil is very challenging to do.

I don't know about you, but the more I hear about this game, the more excited I get. Are you eagerly anticipating Jade's next adventure? Are you still afraid it will never see the light of day? Let us know in the comments below.
