Apple Wants A Bite Of The Console Business, Gets Steamy With Valve
Posted on Monday, April 16 @ 07:49:23 Eastern by Anthony Severino
Rumors of Apple getting into the console business have come and gone a number of times. But this time, Apple CEO Tim Cook's reported visit to the Valve offices over the weekend, gives these claims more weight than ever.
Cult of Mac is reporting that Apple is preparing a "Kinect-like" video game console to go with their also rumored Apple HDTV with Siri-like voice command—giving Apple a one-two punch to the home entertainment industry.
Steam is the iTunes of gaming, so having the service on the "console" or even the Apple HDTV would be a stroke of genius. And Apple knows a lot about Genius.
Yeah, but if Apple is involved in it, won't the cost be like half a bajillion dollars? Don't get me wrong, I like Apple products, but they are a tad on the pricey side. Usually I am just not cool enough to own them. :(
I remember the Apple Bandai Pippin, but most people won't. They only sold about 50K of them. This time around, Apple is the cool thing to buy, so this could potentially stomp the competition into dust.
But is Apple the cool thing to buy among gamers? I don't know. But I do agree with everyone. It will be stupid expensive and a new one will launch every year.
Great just what we need...another motion control console. Also @thedarkstar is right. It will probably cost like $800 and Apple will just innocently shrug and say, "What, we didn't know? That's a bargain!"
oh joy... another product from apple to plague society and the people who think apple has the only electronics worth paying a **** ton of money for. get ready if they actually make a console for update after update cause it didn't come with what they say will be included in the package.
Apple still getting cash money all the time they do what they want how they want and everyone buys it. Plus at.least when you buy apple you know its a reliable product as opposed to the 360 red ring issue . Microsoft is total opposite when they release perfect dark zero the game disc didn't even run through all their tests meaning all the games on shelves had potential of not workig
