Assassin's Creed III Detailed On Wii U

Posted on Monday, March 26 @ 13:30:53 Eastern by

Nintendo's Power most recent issue highlights some of the features we should expect on the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III, beyond being a little surprised that the Wii U can handle the game and it's supposed to be a launch title.

The Wii U tablet will serve as an Animus link, a persistent on-screen map and navigation tool... much like the bottom screen on the 3DS would be used, really. Any Animus Database entries and character bios will appear on the Wii U to increase game flow (though you still will have to look down at the tablet to read them).

During combat, the tablet will offer touchscreen access to weapons so that players can switch between various loadouts with ease. It can also be used as an alternate camera angle for Eagle Vision.

Assassin's Creed III will release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation on October 30, 2012 in North America. We hope that this includes the release date for the Wii U.

I'm still on the fence about how well the 2nd screen on the controller is going to work. It's not exactly like the DS since you're switching depth perception rather drastically & often here with the WiiU. Wouldn't it give you a headache &/or make your eyes hurt?

I also cant see this being to useful, and I'm a hardcore fan of the 2 screens on the DS, worst part is they act as if having to look down and manage stuff on the controller ISN'T interrupting game flow, im sorry but if you have to look away from teh screen its interrupting game flow.

Who's surprised by this, Nintendo Power or you? And either way, why? The WiiU is being built with 2010 hardware, so it will definitely at least match (and probably exceed) the PS3's 2004/2005 hardware. If the PS3 can handle Assassin's Creed 3, then the WiiU will be able to as well.
