Assassin's Creed: Revelations Officially Announced

Posted on Thursday, May 5 @ 09:32:46 Eastern by

Facebook may have let slip the next Assassin's Creed game's title, but Game Informer gets to take the announcement a step further with their recently released cover.

You might recognize Game Informer as the magazine Gamestop is always trying to push on you. Yes, that one. While it's nice for them to get exclusives thanks to their ties to the massive games retailer, you can just click on Game Revolution for this update. It's free!

Apparently, Assassin's Creed: Revelations will intertwine the roles of Altair, Ezio, and Desmond. Ezio? The Italian dude? What's that all about:

Uncover a brand new part of the world as Ezio travels abroad for the first time to explore the wonders of Constantinople at the height of the Ottoman Empire.

I like Ezio... he doesn't afraid of anything and all that, but can't his old bones get a rest? He certainly looks older but I hope that Altair and Desmond get their fair shakes throughout the game. Part of what kept Ezio fresh in Brotherhood was that he wasn't the only character you were playing as. Game Informer will be keeping Assassin's Creed fans on a slow drip all month with more new AC info and media. Here's the cover:

They need to make AC3 instead of revisiting old characters (though I still enjoyed Brotherhood despite this); I have my fingers crossed for 3 taking place in Edo period! Even though that'd be an odd tie-in with the whole genetic lineage thing.

@t1pz0r: You're not the only want wanting an asian departure for the series. I'd like to see it too but it'll probably have to wait until Desmond's story is all wrapped up.

I hope the next game takes place in a different environment than ancient Italy. They did a great job recreating it, but things felt a little too familiar after playing through Brotherhood. An interesting place to visit would be Japan in the age of samurai. They have much in common with the Assassins and are all-around badasses. Geishas, throwing stars, blow darts, some great sneaking missions - it all fits in with the AC gameplay.
