Battlefield 3 Goes to Gulf of Oman in Latest DLC Trailer

Posted on Monday, November 28 @ 11:25:41 Eastern by

I went shopping this weekend and I still saw "Limited Edition" Battlefield 3 copies on store shelves so there's no reason you'd need to pay for the upcoming Back to Karkand DLC map pack.

Even if you managed to miss out on the first-run freebie, it seems like these classic maps will be worth it, especially if you've ever bought a Call of Duty map pack. Gulf of Oman was personally my favorite map, although I know Karkand is pretty highly regarded among Battlefield's player base.

Back to Karkand is still scheduled for December 2011 with PS3 gamers receiving the pack one week early.

The demo for BF2 was just the Gulf of Oman map that could be played indefinitely. I played the demo of BF2 on Gulf of Oman map for at least a year and never had to buy BF2.

Side-note: Whats the best control scheme for flying helicopters on the PS3? I cant control worth crap on PS3 controller, but with a mouse and keyboard I wreck with heli. I flew with a guy last night who was incredible (so I assumed it was mouse and keyboard with PS3)

I have found some success turning up the sensitivity super high, other than that I feel your pain man. Mouse and keyboard offered a lot more control in the aircraft, and I loved the command features at the tips of your fingers thanks to the full keyboard. But.... its still the best FPS out there, bar noneski....

I'm playing on 360, but inverting the stick controls from the defaults when flying worked wonders for me. You just have to get the hang of one stick being your rotate/turn control and the other for tilting the helo forwards/backwards. You also have to hold the throttle button down most of the time.

I'm on ps3 and using the default control scheme, and my helicopter flying is definitely improving. I would most recommend playing the co-op mission "fires from the sky" where one player is pilot and another is gunner for practice. Another thing to remember is if you're trying to aim missiles yourself while piloting, instead of tipping the nose down to target and dive bombing in too quickly, try descending low enough that you aren't flying in super fast while still hitting ground targets. It gives the both of you more time to target and fire.

Ahhh... Nice to here from converts. I can't wait for Oman and Karkand. Definitely would like to see Jalalabad and Wake too if they get around to it cuz those were some fun maps. Can't say enough about BF3. I was hesitant being a PC gamer who transitioned to the PS3 but I think they pulled it off beautifully. Hope to see you all online. Go Team Venture.

So that's what 64 player battles look like? I feel like sometimes on the 360 people are just standing around waiting for vehicles to spawn and it's not that hectic on some of the bigger maps. Still great though.
