Battlefield 3 Joining Multiple Disc Releases on Xbox 360?

Posted on Thursday, August 18 @ 15:03:46 Eastern by

Lot's of games have been shipping across multiple disks on Xbox 360. L.A. Noire from Rockstar Games shipped across 3 discs and found plenty of success despite all of that swapping. While the PS3 hasn't yet needed to switch disks mid game thanks to its Bluray format, gamers on Microsoft's console may need to open their console's tray in the middle of the battlefield.

During Gamescom, reporters got ahold of Karl Magnusson, General Manager of DICE, and asked about the size of his studio's upcoming mega-shooter.

Simply put, we asked: Will the game be coming to Xbox 360 on one disc?

How cryptic! While I can't imagine switching disks during a multiplayer match, I can only assume that gamers will have to split their Battlefield 3 time between a single-player and co-operative disc and a multiplayer-only disc.

I'd much rather have Co-op on the MP disc. I don't have a 360 though, just saying.

i dont think multiple discs hurt games at all. in fact, they would usually be a great help. take splinter cell conviction for instance. it's all on the one disc and has lots of modes, but every mode on the game is very small. the campaign takes about 5 hours at best, the co-op campaign isn't much longer and there are barely any hunter missions (the best part of the game) to speak of. with splinter cell 6, i would be excited as hell if they announced they would keep the old gameplay and expand the hell out of it by putting the campaigns on one disc and putting a butt load of extra missions on the other. if that were the case i couldnt care less about swapping
