It looks awesome and I'm pretty sure my PC can't run it.

Not that you can tell by the trailer since its a gussied up recording, but it looks like complete crap compared to the PC version. They had to cut so much out of the environments and such just to make it work on the way out-of-date graphics cards. They could probably do 64 players, but they'd have to cut out a bunch more content. This is why they should make consoles modular so you can upgrade the ram and vram from time to time. Fuckin' terrible.

I kinda agree with you, but then devs wouldn't be able to efficiently develop for consoles. Do you know how much of a ***** it is to have to optimize a game for millions of options?

I guess RAM/VRAM/CPU upgrades every two years would be cool though.

I am of course assuming that the hardware would be developed in-house. If Microsoft makes the console, and then makes the new hardware then all they have to do is patch in a few values. They can do two things: make the launch graphics card the bare minimum and whatever the current card is the maximum, then they can let people mess with the options like a PC to figure out what they want to do away with and what they don't, or they can even make the console auto compensate like Rage is gonna, to guarantee 60 fps

They do already make these devices you speak of, they are called computers.

Yeah it pretty much comes back to that, except that I am talking about a machine that is dedicated from top to bottom to gaming.

But even current gen consoles aren't solely dedicated to gaming anymore, they'd simply be computers with less flexibility and an OS that wasn't W7 or macOS.

but then we'd run into the same problem as iOS. Do we REALLY need an iPhone/iPad every year? Is it really enough for that price?

Also drathbone, you can't control the market when it comes to PC. Well, not entirely.
