Battlefield 3 Single Player Campaign to Last "6-7 Hours"

Posted on Friday, October 7 @ 12:58:48 Eastern by

The Call of Duty franchise has long been criticized for its short single-player campaign length. Campaign length is just one area in which Battlefield 3 hopes to best the reigning champion of shooters.

At EA's Las Vegas showcase last week, we had the chance to speak with Patrick Liu, producer for DICE, about the upcoming Battlefield 3 campaign, which Liu says will last around "6-7 hours".

6-7 hours seems to be the sweet spot on campaign length, but for anyone feeling that it's too short, there's a completely separate campaign for co-op.

"...co-op is a whole campaign by itself. It is story driven but not the same story as the single player, but there is a lot of stuff that is related like the locations. The missions are made specifically for the co-op", Liu said.

Aside from campaign length, we asked Liu in what other ways Battlefield 3 beats Call of Duty.

"We have a lot of stuff that no one else does, just the scale and sandbox experience, no one does it as well as we are. The vehicle gameplay--people have tried to emulate that but no one is even getting close, either. Destruction is something we are doing best".

Battlefield 3 releases on October 25th on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Stick with GameRevolution for the latest on Battlefield 3.

it sounds like they're making bad company 2 again with better graphics and lots of ideas from other games rather than making something entirely unique. two seperate campaigns, one for solo and one for co-op, sounds exactly like Splinter Cell Conviction, and look at how successful it was in splinter cell. not to mention BF3 is taking ideas from COD itself. nothing big but just little gameplay tweaks like sprnt-strafing and going prone. i still havent seen an original idea in BF3 yet except jets. also the beta barely worked

Wow. What is wrong with gamers....

How about you go out and create a game with features that have never, EVER, been done before.
It's Battlefield 3. Therefore, it's a sequel to Battlefield 2, not a brand new IP. So it's going to keep the same formula, and build upon it. Very simple.

"there is a lot of stuff that is related like the locations" sounds an awful lot like "we re-used as much **** as possible."

Well thats dissapointing. Over 3 years and then you try and brag about a 6 hour campaign. I was hoping for 10 at the least. The multiplayer must really blow my mind or else i'm gonna be pissed I pre-ordered this s**t.

Dice has no business wasting their resources on a single player campaign. They should devote their heart and souls to the multplayer, now and forever.

So, what happens when servers are shutdown? or when there's a network outage/maintenance? Exactly, you don't play anything.

$60 for a multiplayer game is way too much.
