Fight Night Champion

Platform(s): Xbox 360, PS3

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Developer: EA Canada

Growing up, I was a huge boxing fan. I got to watch Mike Tyson in his prime, while past greats like George Foreman switched to cooking prime rib on that grill that everyone owns. But boxing lost its appeal. Fights that were once nail-biters turned into ear-biters. And slowly but surely, the Pay Per View events stopped being worth the price of admission. For that same price, you can get Fight Night Champion – a game that makes boxing feel alive again.

The Fight Night franchise has always been a strong contender. The fighting mechanics are second to none; the graphics are spot-on; it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. But it was always missing that knockout punch needed to become a champion. Fight Night Champion’s deep story mode and ESPN-style presentation not only help it win the Heavyweight belt, but make it one of the Greatest of All Time.
