BioWare Announces Mass Effect Trilogy

Posted on Wednesday, September 26 @ 09:50:37 Eastern by Keri_Honea

As announced on the official Mass Effect site, all three Mass Effect games will be bundled and sold together as the Mass Effect Trilogy on November 6th. The best part? The Trilogy will sell at the same price of one new game: $59.99. Take that, Square Enix.

The Trilogy will release for both Xbox 360 and PC on November 6th, and for the PS3 "at a later date." This means that yes, the original Mass Effect game will release for the first time on the PS3. Can you feel the excitement, PS3 owners?

If you already own each individual game, are you going to buy this one as well?

I already played 1 and 2 on my PC, but it can't run 3 at a reasonable framerate and I lost my saves. Maybe I'll pick this one for the PS3.

I own two, never played one, and after seeing the ending of three, I have no interest in playing it, so I'll probabaly pass.

WHAT?! The first one is the best by far story-wise. Totally should not be missed.

As I've said before, the best way to get through the Mass Effect series is to play the first one and then sit there and imagine what the two games following it would be like. Because that's cheaper and most likely better than Mass Effect 2 or 3.

The only problem is that ME1 has really aged pretty badly, so it takes some getting used to.

I'm guessing the PC version will require origin.

I bought 1 and 2 on the Steam sale, have yet to play them (sorry Keri). Will probably try to find PC ME3 bargain, though bemoaning installing Origin. If it's still full price... maybe this.

I'm pumped to be able to play the first, but I know I'm going to be frustrated with the gameplay. Oh well... I'll suffer through it. I'm currently working on my own version of the real ending to ME3. I can't accept the actual ending, so I'm making my own.

I wonder if I'll be able to import my Shepard from ME2 and/or ME3 into the first one...

But apparently doesn't include all of the DLC. If anyone wants to get this simply because they haven't played ME1 I'd suggest just getting the platinum hits version because it includes the bonus "Bring Down the Sky" mission. I think I'll just save my money and wait to see if they release anymore plot-hole fixes or *ahem*, excuse me, "DLC" for ME3.

As a PS3 owner, with no real reason to pick up an Xbox in the near future, this is my first (but hopefully not only) chance. It would be awesome if this opens the door for a downloadable version of ME1 through PSN, though.

You may not be able to see it, but I'm totally rejoicing. Also, what's your source? I hit the interwebs to find the Googles but couldn't find nothing.

Meh. Mass Effect has never appealed to me. I *might* get the PS3 version just because, but I'm leaning toward no.
