BioWare Confirms Next Mass Effect Game In Early Stages Of Development

Posted on Thursday, November 8 @ 14:12:44 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Surprise everyone! We're getting yet another Mass Effect title. Will it be called Mass Effect 4? Will it take advantage of next-gen hardware? Will it have a good ending? All of these things still remain a mystery, as BioWare is still in the very early stages of development.

Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson shared the news on Twitter, saying:

Did you hear that? He wants to know what you think! Perhaps this is a move to preemptively avoid another occurrence of widespread angry gamer backlash akin to what happened with Mass Effect 3. That whole fiasco still pisses me off...

"What would you like to see in it?"!? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!?

    *end of nerd rage*

Well for starters how about a COMPLETE GAME that doesn't screw loyal fans out of all love they once had for your franchise. I am still trying to see the light at the end pof the tunnel but they really messed up with Mass Effect 3. Frankly it just frightens me that they keep asking us what we want to see. Do we need to switch jobs for a day Casey Hudson? I'm pretty sure that all the Mass Effect fans on GR could come up with a new game concept that would make you crap your pants. Stop tweeting and get to work damnit!

To her defense one could say that what followed was a quite civilized rage.

Yeah I know. I'm guessing none of you watch 30 Rock. They seriously need to stop asking gamers for suggestions though. It's pathetic and it does not bode well for the future of the franchise at all.

Aside from the ending (which Bioware in my opinion remedied, for free mind you) I really don't understand all the hate levied at ME3. To me it was definitely in my top 10 of the year. Amazingly epic story, same cast of characters we came to know and love over the course of three games, many of whom's story arcs came to a satisfying close and, post Extended Cut, a satisfying end to an amazing trilogy. I really don't get it: is it the combat (which to me felt like a fairly natural, and solid, progression from the first's lackluster attempt at 3rd person cover based shooting)? Is it the storytelling (can't see why)? The opening day bugs (facial import feature I totally understand, but I was able to recreate a suitable look alike and move on, but it did piss me off)? I don't get it.

Thank you! The DLC endings were just fine and all the whining fanboys just need to shut up. It drives me NUTS when I hear phrases or remarks about the ending. BioWare admitted their mistake, they fixed it for FREE, and apologized. But the fanboys just cry, "But it's still on the disc! They still made a bad ending!" Just shut up.

It's funny, because if he said nothing I bet people would ***** he didn't ask them what they wanted.

ah well, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Speaking as someone who enjoyed mass effect 3 and was overjoyed they added a FREE dlc that fixed the ending (that didn't bothered me much, journey>destination ), i am super excited about this news!

Now we know it won't be about Sheppard no more... Will it even star a human protagonist?

Agreed, I had a blast with all 3 ME games and I didn't see what the huge deal was with the ending. I think if anything he asked "us" what we want as in "WELL DON'T FUCKING COMPLAIN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN" if they don't get any feedback.

Happy to see ME(4) whether its a sequel prequel or new saga entirely.

One story, one game. That is what I want.

Honestly I keep wondering if I got screwed on ME3 based on my ME1 and ME2 paragon tendencies. The whole time I was playing, everything was all sunshine and rainbows thanks to my actions in the previous games, right up to the part where everyone died.

Mass Effect 3 = Most played game in 2012 for me so there! I was skeptical about the multiplayer but if they build on that plus the solid singleplayer campaign I am good. Looking forward to see how they expand on the multiplayer. Sidenote: were PS3 owners less pissed about the ending as we never got to play the 1st one? The ending seemed fine to me but to each his/her own opinion.

I think not having Shepard is actually a plus, they can start with a fresh slate in terms of characters. Bioware should take a page out of their own book and do what they did with Dragon Age: Origins, have about 5, 6 different species with their own backstory\history and each one have their own opening, that would be pretty cool I think.
