Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Bioware Officially Details Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer

Posted on Tuesday, October 11 @ 09:00:00 Eastern by

So let's get the facts straight before we ask you about your own thoughts on Mass Effect 3's newly revealed multiplayer modes. Staffers over at the Bioware forums took to their particular platform to detail Mass Effect 3's new additions and hopefully assuage some of your fears.

Mass Effect 3 will feature 4 player co-op multiplayer. With friends in tow, you'll be able to engage in multiplayer-specific missions over Xbox Live, PSN, and via the good ol' internet on PC. You'll choose from classes and races and combine abilities and weapons to fight off enemies in "key territories." Apparently playing this multiplayer mode successfully will result in positive effects on the outcome in single-player.

Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War is a system allowing players to fight the galactic war on multiple platforms. This will get detailed further at a later date, but Bioware has confirmed that Galaxy at War will effect Mass Effect 3's overall "Galactic Readiness" level. This measures Commander Shepard's "ability to apply every possible asset - people, weapons, resources, armies, fleets - in the final battle against the Reapers."

You know what this means don't you? Mining on your iPhone. I'm calling it.

There's a FAQ in the Bioware forums you should read. Wait wait! Quick groaning!

Bogus! The multiplayer should never affect a single play campaign.

I agree completely - it sounds like they are tacking on extra work to get the good ending! As someone who has a "perfect" ME1&2 save going... I don't want to have to play multiplayer to save the galaxy...

The FAQ states that you can readily achieve the optimal "good" ending without playing any form of multiplayer.

But the multiplayer should never affect a single player campaign in anyway imo.

Agreed. Sucks ass to have to play multiplayer to get a better single player experience. It's actually kind of dumb if you think about it.

Why not tiny? This is Mass Effect. EVERYTHING affects EVERYTHING.

Also, this is why embargoes suck.

Because I don’t play well with others, and I don’t want to play multiplayer games. I think that there are other people out there that feel the same way I do about multiplayer games. Making every game into a COD or a WOW leaves me cold I want a good single player campaign that I can play without having to rely someone else.

It would be fine as some type of stand alone feature, but I don't want to have to rely on others in order to get the complete Mass Effect experience. I should be able to explore everything the game has to offer solo.

I think the experience one wants is to have the A.I. characters that fight along side of you be as real and even as flawed at times as a real live person. Without having to (make new buddies or friends whatever). There are some of us that play these type of games that either (don't have friends that are into gaming or don't want to be bothered finding friends or making friends to play these games). Some times one may just want to come home from work and forget about the REAL world. That mean all that socializing and stuff and just be at peace with oneself...well, peace until you ripe someone apart with a mass effect generated warp field or freeze them then incinerate them...or something. ah, ok, I think you get my meaning, JUST LET US PLAY THE GAME.

    thinks for reading this. ;-)

Totally unecessary. Why can't bioware just focus on making the core gameplay great. I have bad feeling, bad.
