Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.

State of Decay Review
Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?

E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Black Ops 2 Sets Pre-Order Records At GameStop

Posted on Tuesday, October 16 @ 12:43:41 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Despite the fact that the Call of Duty franchise sees annual installments that arguably don't mix up the formula enough, Black Ops 2 is on track to continue the series' record-breaking tradition.

According to GameStop president Tony Bartel, “Consumer anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is tremendous. We are seeing the highest pre-orders in history. With its current pace, this Call of Duty is on track to break records and is likely to be our biggest game launch of all time.”

Say what you want about Activision, but can you really blame them for pushing out a new game every fall? The consumers have spoken, and what they want more than anything else is more Call of Duty.

It's definitely the biggest preorder campaign they've run. It started like... way back in May? With the posters or something?

    Jeez.

I still haven't preordered it. If GameStop's the retailer providing the free Nuketown DLC, then I definitely need to.

I'll never understand game behavior. They lash out at every Call of Duty, they rip it apart in forum posts, they claim they hate it, how much the series is making video games stagnate. They blame CoD for everything that is wrong with modern gaming....

Then they turn around and buy the next game. Meh?

Two different groups. One group loves the series and buys the new version every year. The other group is made of up whiny *****es that apparently can't stand that a lot people like to play Call of Duty, as if it had any affect on them at all. There is also a third group of slightly more sane people that judge each game on it's own merits. That group is too busy having fun to post very much in the way absurd whining rants or hyperbolic praise filled dribble.

True, also, I have nothing against CoD. I look at each new CoD title based on its merits, and what it has to offer in terms of enjoyment. There are some I've skipped (Modern Warfare 3), but I'm interested in Black Ops 2 because it looks like it may change the formula... but we'll see.

Don't care for the game. I got Halo 4, because it looks to have improved.

It's just incredible that CoD has the staying power to break it's own world record every single year. Just amazing. Activision/Treyarch/IW have definitely found the key the success. I can't wait for the upcoming next gen of CoD to revolutionize the console FPS experience yet again.

I think a Wayne's World style "NOTTT!!!!" is in order for this comment, lol. CoD, since MW is schlock, incredibly fun, but schlock nonetheless. That doesn't mean I don't expect every release with anticipation, and that I haven't finished every one of them since MW, but saying that this game is revolutionary is like saying The Expendables 2 is a groundbreaking movie, it's not, it's just mindless fun, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Dumpweed's talking about how CoD has gathered more fans than any franchise, and set a bar for "action FPS'. Which it did do. Every gamer (and a lot of non-gamers) know what CoD is. It's the most popular console game ever made (I think), each new release sells more than the last. So, it did revolutionize the console FPS experience in a way. For good, or for ill, CoD is changed how console FPS games are made. It redefined "rollercoaster". Some may argue that it is an "un-game", sure (in some ways it can be, as its extremely linear and has zero choice), but it did create some of the most memorable in-your-face action moments in console FPS gaming. It also had some fantastic moments (Everyone loves the sniper-section in the first Modern Warfare).

I was talking about CoD in general, not just Black Ops 2.
