Borderlands 2 Official Website Open

Posted on Wednesday, August 3 @ 10:26:18 Eastern by

Hey, check me out everybody! I'm dancin', I'm dancin'!

Borderlands 2 has already been teased by Randy Pitchford, but now it's official-official. Type in your (fake) age on the official site and see Borderlands 2 in all its gun-loot glory.

The game has plenty of time to simmer before its April 1, 2012 release date, so I hope they can follow through with their promises of grass, dual weapons, planes, being able to skip cut-scenes (please...), and fewer glitches at launch. I would also like to see them flesh out their NPC characters and environments a bit more. It never looks like anyone actually lives anywhere, and if they do, they say one line over and over again. And let's not mention the ending boss... so much fail.

Now I wonder if it will take place 200 years in the future. The ending to Borderlands was a slight disappointment in my eyes. Don't want to go too far into detail, I have no idea how many of you out there haven't played this gem yet. Seriously, do so. With friends, if possible.

Are you referring to the "vanilla" final boss, or the GotY final boss?

If you're talking about the first one: while the game is enjoyable, fun, and original, I kind of agree. You kill it and that's pretty much the end of it. There's an end cutscene and a quick followup to turn in the thing it drops for a fat stack of cash, but no actual loot or anything of any real significance acquired. And afterwards things just kind of go about like business as usual on Pandora if you keep wandering around. Basically, the ending is pretty anti-climactic in the vanilla game.

Haven't fought the *other* one as I haven't played any of the DLC content yet.
