LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Everything I Learned About Call of Duty: Ghosts Last Week
I wasn't allowed to talk about the new Infinity Ward game last week when I met with Activision, and I don't have much to say now that Xbox One spilled the beans.

Call of Duty Elite Gets Free Features Detailed

Posted on Wednesday, June 22 @ 10:56:07 Eastern by

Did you know that Activision is evil? Like... seriously, I heard that the entire company eats babies for lunch on Friday. Babies!

That was certainly the consensus after Call of Duty Elite was first announced and detailed by The Wall Street Journal. I was personally so shocked by Activision's decision to further their Call of Duty business plan by any means necessary. I thought they'd be giving everything away for free! DLC Map Packs, fancy preorder bonuses, maybe even some night-vision goggles?

Call of Duty Elite's beta will be opening soon for gamers holding on to their copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops. With the impending release, Bobby Kotick and company saw fit to announce exactly what piece of its Elite service would be free. Here it goes:

Theater
-Upload 30 second videos to Youtube
-Videos tagged with all players
Streaming and sharing
Career Stats
Heat Maps
Loads Outs - Study, Edit + Push to game from any linked device
Facebook Friend Import
Personal Leaderboards
Weapon Performance Stats
Cross Device Messaging
Study Other Player Profiles
Groups:
-Customized by interests + affinities
-Identify Group members in game
-Group leaderboards + message boards.
Clan Support
Interact Everywhere - Web, Mobile, and Console
More to Come

Is that enough? What do you expect Activision will ask you to pay for should you choose to subscribe to its Elite service?

Why hello there Mr. Genius, if you could read, all of those things are free. The very same features offered by Bungie. So, if this service is shitty, then Bungie Pro must be shitty also? Or are there more flaws in your logic that I missed.

    Anyways:
30 seconds? Still. Jesus christ man. Looks like I'll be using the streaming option.
Can't wait for the beta. Sue me

Please take a look at the initial release page they linked with the Elite service. You will see that you have to pay 9.99 to get elite status.

A price has yet to be set.

    This is how it works.
You sign up for CoD: Elite. After that, you have access to everything listed above. FOR FREE.

The Premium features have not been announced yet because those are going to be integrated into MW3.

You know, maybe all the game companies need to sink so that people understand the importance of buying games. Then people will complain about no new games. People will always complain.

Maybe you need to sink so you understand the importance of how shitty the annual game releases are becoming.

I never had a gripe with this new service, my issue is that the series hasn't evolved worth ****, all you get each year for 60 bucks is some new maps, some new weapons, and more killstreaks to remove a skill requirement for the game.

You also get a new influx of 12 year olds yelling racial, sexist and homophobic slurs at you. When I played CoD I'd mute everyone in the lobby because there's literally no reason to listen to anybody on your team ever.

I started playing MW2 about a year ago. Since I've been playing I've never (to my knowledge) had anyone send me a message laden with random profanity. About a month ago, I had two different guys send me messages, in the same day, within an hour of each other. This is what they said:

"You suck you f*****g camping f*g**t, I hope your mom dies of cancer"
I wasn't camping, I never camp, it's a lame way of playing ANY game. I didn't even win the match; I got like third or fourth place but I still did better than he did.

Got the second message about an hour later from another guy that said simply: "super ***"
Wasn't even in a match with that guy. I asked him what his problem was and he never answered.

Whenever I play a game with friends I always mute everybody else.
And people wonder why I hate kids...

Well, you have to go to the game just to see any of that. I plan on playing for money and whatnot in the future, so being able to assess my matches from a PC or something is a welcome addition.

The only thing missing from Black Cops are free Donuts and Steve Urkel.

These are still not things that Non-elite customers will get (( or thats the way it seems )). These are just the free components to the 9.99 Elite Service that customers will have to pay for right along side their current Xlive Subscription. I'm not a fan. Why pay for your Internet provider (( roughly 40$ a month depending ))....your Xlive (( 10$ a month or 60$ a year if you do it that way )) AND pay 9.99 for some stupid **** that should honestly be packaged with the game. I personally will not purchase this game and even if i end up getting it (( on the offshoot that my friends beat me with rusted bats and call me Noob until im grey in the face )) i wouldnt purchase this service. I can see playing a MMORPG and paying 15$ a month for that....but the combination of the above that i noted will not happen. (( personal opinion ))

    That doesn't make any sense.

How can there be "free components" to a paid service. You couldn't be anymore wrong. Paying for the premium version is completely optional.

I don't really understand how you're interpreting it this way. Sure, you'll have to sign up for the program, but the initial sign up is free....

So what exactly could they possibly charge for then? What could anyone possibly give a **** about enough to pay money that's not on that list? I can't think of anything.

I did notice that it doesn't list multiplayer support, but since they said that was free already....

    Multiplayer support?

Do you understand what this service is?
Also, I'd pay for being able to upload videos longer than 30 seconds. :|
