[Update: Back Now] Cancer-Fighting Video Game Speed Run Marathon Gets Interrupted By Fire Alarm

[1/6 1:15 PM PT] The stream is back on now after a brief warm-up.


[1/6 12:30 PM PT] The Awesome Games Done Quick marathon encourages viewers to donate toward their fight against cancer, but the stream was interrupted on Monday after a fire alarm forced operators to exit the building.

Speed runner Tri-Hex was in the middle of a three hour Yoshi's Island 100% speed run where viewers could donate to remove his shirt when a fire alarm interrupted the stream. Attendees in the audience looked confused and organizers quickly muted all microphones.

You can see the empty seats and a paused game in the image above, in addition to 72,000 viewers reacting in the Twitch.tv chat. As the fire alarm continued flashing on the stream, the live audience actually grew by about 1000.

With so many people watching the Awesome Games Done Quick stream, can the cancer-prevention charity drive withstand internet douchery and asshats? Are they to blame for the fire alarm? We'll have more on the stream as it continues. You can watch it right here on GameRevolution, above.
