Capcom And Valve Announce Crossover Of Resident Evil 6 And Left 4 Dead 2

Posted on Friday, March 15 @ 12:44:45 Eastern by

Capcom and Valve have announced a joint venture that will blend their blockbusters Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 in an upcoming crossover project. Characters from Left 4 Dead 2 will be featured in Resident Evil 6's upcoming PC release while enemies from Resident Evil 6 will appear in Left 4 Dead 2. This content will be available free of charge and exclusively on the PC.

More specifically, Capcom said in a release today that the L4D2 cast will be playable in the PC-exclusive Mercenaries mode titled The Mercenaries No Mercy. Coach, Nick, Ellis, and Rochelle will come complete with special weapons to combat the victims of the Umbrella Corporation.

What's more, the Witch and Mini Tank enemies from L4D2 will appear in that mode, whether you've chosen a cameo character or not. As a result, Left 4 Dead 2 players will discover RE6 enemies like the Lepotitsa and Ogroman in their game as well. Chet Faliszek of Valve said the staff are huge fans of Resident Evil and that "when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, [Valve] jumped at it."

These additions were made using the Steam Workshop tools available to Steam users and players should expect to see the content appear in L4D2 this Spring. The RE6 content will be available on April 5th.

So does this mean Left for Dead 2 now somehow qualifies as Capcom DLC?

Pretty much. I kinda misread the headline thinking they were collaborating on a new game, which may be pretty intriguing... If that's what was going to happen

I misread the title of the article too. I would be pretty terrified if Left for Dead and Resident Evil did a mash-up game. Capcom can't even make a decent Resident Evil game anymore they don't need to be messing with Left for Dead.

This comment made my day. A super company like Valve left episode 2 on a cliffhanger people may or may not be waiting for still 7 years later... -_-

They are screens guys, and it looks pretty cool...ignoring RE6's gameplay.

What we really need is a MMORPG massive world that is online 24/7 where people can log into a massive ZOMBIE INFESTED CITY and be given objectives that they can choose to complete/ignore. Everyone must search for weapons and ammo to STAY ALIVE and you only get a single life. Each time you die, your stats reset and you must create a new character. To keep your character alive, you must get to a safe house and save the game - otherwise you'll be left on the streets to be murdered. People will work together to hoard ammo and supplies and VERY IMPORTANTLY - anyone can kill anyone else, even if there is friendly fire.

    This way it's realistic.

It's not really an MMORPG at all, more like GTA but with zombies.

The War Z on the other hand....*smirk*

I paid less attention to the "MMORPG" part of his comment, and more to the rest where he basically describes DayZ...
