Capcom Announces New IP, Dragon's Dogma

Posted on Tuesday, April 12 @ 08:02:32 Eastern by

Capcom just wrapped up their annual Captivate event and is ready to make some earth-shattering announcements. The first in a series of reveals coming from the publisher, is a new IP entitled Dragon's Dogma.

Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma is a unique action experience that blends exciting and fulfilling combat with the freedom to explore and interact in a rich, living and breathing world. With your party of three you set out on an epic adventure to track down and destroy a mysterious dragon. Along the way you’ll encounter some of the biggest and baddest beasts ever to roam the land, and only skilful play and tactical teamwork can save the day.

Dragon's Dogma will utilize an "enhanced version" of Capcom's MT Framework engine used in Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5. The game will release some time in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

More information is still trickling in so we'll be updating this article ferociously as more comes to light.

@TurinAlexander: the tittle is much more relevant to the game then Resonance of Fate or Arc Rise Fantasia.

I love it when a japanese studio make a Western RPG game. I will be looking forward for this!

So you don't ever get to control a dragon, you just try to kill it? Seems like a letdown.

But I might have said something similar about Metal Gear once (So a "metal gear" is a mech, but you never get to control one?), but that series turned out amazing.

@UpAndAtThem: if i read your message correctly, i take it you haven't played mgs4, because you get to control metal gear REX in that game

damo, you are correct. I have a copy of MGS4 sitting in my "games I'm going to get around to playing someday" pile. Just don't seem to have the time I used to, or maybe there's just too many good games now.
