Capcom Announces Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Posted on Monday, March 28 @ 15:52:26 Eastern by

Through a recent fact sheet, Capcom and Vancouver-based studio Slant 6 Games will be releasing Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in time for the holiday season.

This third-person team-based shooter reinterprets Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, and challenges players against "an opponent squad" as well as "zombies and bio-organic weapons (B.O.W.'s)". It will tell the familiar story of the US government's cover-up of the T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility in Raccoon City -  including a cameo by Leon S. Kennedy - albeit from the perspective of an Umbrella Security Services soldier. This revival will also give "fans the chance to rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak".

No need to face it alone, though; up to four players can battle the infected cooperatively. Either that or players can delve into the competitive online multiplayer that will pit the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops, and zombie threat in a three-way shootout.
