Capcom Details Timed-Exclusive DLC For Resident Evil 6

Posted on Tuesday, September 11 @ 12:50:53 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

Do you love finding out that a developer is working on DLC before a game releases? If so, lend me your ear

Through a press release Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 6 will be recipient of DLC—surprise surprise. More importantly, the content will be timed-exclusive with Xbox 360 owners having access during the week of release, while PC and PlayStation 3 fans will have to wait until an unknown date.

In terms of what the package will entail, it's quite sizeable with three new multiplayer modes offered including Survivors Mode, Predator Mode, and Siege Mode.

Survivor Mode is a form of last-man standing but those who are killed respawn as enemies, and can only be resurrected by killing two living players. Predator Mode places one player in the role of Ustanak, a massive bio-organic weapon that hunts Jake Muller during the campaign, while the others are in charge of taking him down. Lastly, Siege Mode is an escort mission that makes one team responsible for the safe—highly unlikely—transfer of a V.I.P while the other team seeks to destroy him.

All three game modes will support six player online, but no split-screen. However, stats and accomplishments will be tracked so you can make fun of your friends for their poor performance.

The name of the DLC is unknown but is planned to release shortly after Resident Evil 6 comes out on October 2nd, and additional DLC is already in the works.

hasn't been good*, excuse me. on top of that, it inspired thousands and thousands of games to use that horrible over the shoulder camera, probably the worst perspective in the history of video games ever

Silly gamer! Zombie games can't die!

On a more serious note, Resident Evil prints money for Capcom. They will never let that go, even if it means ****ing up the storyline.

I'm pretty glad I hated RE5, since it seems to be difficult to like this new breed of games designed around marketing. Now I can just replay 1, 2, CVX, and 4 year after year as I cry myself to sleep. And yes, I wasn't that big a fan of 3, as I enjoy item hunting at my own pace.

That said, I am fearful of what will happen to Dead Rising in the future. I loved 1 and 2, and skipped on the retcon money grab version, but who knows what the next installment will have to bring it down.
