Few games have ever been as impactful as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Responsible for raising the bar for the RPG genre and open world games like, it was indisputable winner of 2015's game of the year awards. Naturally, it deserves a sequel.
That was precisely the topic brought up when CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski spoke to Poland's TVN 24 BiS . Agreeable to fans, he shared his interest in pursuing a new installment in the franchise:
It would be unfair to fans not to make one . We have been working in this universe for more than a decade now and I do not think it’s going to be the end of it. It is still early to talk about it, but we have not forgotten this series.
It's been speculated that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost $81 million to make, and required the work of over 240 people. These costs put a dent in the profitability generated by its more than seven million units sold, but even then it was a colossal financial success.
With its name established and valuable experience gained during development, The Witcher 4 is certain to come. Though, we'll be waiting a while if the 3.5 year development cycle of its predecessor was any indication.
