GAMING NEWSCheck Out The First Few Minutes Of BioShock InfinitePosted on Wednesday, December 19 @ 07:36:11 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
While we've still got a few months of waiting to do before BioShock Infinite is available in its final form, Irrational Games has provided us with footage of the game's opening moments in an effort to tide us over until release day. The video (above) showcases the first several minutes of BioShock Infinite, but be warned, if you want to go into the experience knowing nothing, I suggest you avoid watching the clip altogether, as plenty of SPOILERS abound. For those of you who simply can't wait, and decide to watch the clip, be sure to let us know what you think of the game's opening in the comments below. I must say, I absolutely love the way they pay tribute to the original BioShock. Look for BioShock Infinite when it hits store shelves on March 26th. More from the Game Revolution Network Comments

-It looks like the player is in control after exiting the boat and remains so until the launch sequence begins.
-There were some items on the desk next to the body that flickered, indicating interactivity.
-The note and puzzle indicate that proxies for keypads are in the game
-Prior to leaving the boat and after the sequence started the player had no control over their character.
-The loss of the weapon was not a result of a mistake the player made but a predetermined outcome.

-The use of loss of control to set up scripted events and predetermined outcomes is potentially worrying. In a similar fashion to the first Bioshock and every Call of Duty since 3 this could mean every kind of trouble. Frat boy dudebros and pretentious pseudo-intellectual critics who want to feel like alike really yuck that up.
-The tooltips are condescending and unnecessary. Hopefully they can be turned off.
-It may be possible to meta-game the puzzles. Hopefully optional coded locks in early game environments will contain extra goodies which the player can use to jump the difficulty/progress curve.
-Related to the previous, one hopes the combination hardest difficulty/hardcore mode live up to their names and the 1999 mode isn't just a pale imitation of System Shock 2 but a full embrace of its unkind, skull-cracking hardness.
