Columbia Pictures, Avi Arad Producing Metal Gear Solid Movie

Posted on Thursday, August 30 @ 07:11:36 Eastern by

While it pales in comparison to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, especially because no footage or solid (okay, I'll cool it with the solid puns) information was shown, a Metal Gear Solid movie was also announced on stage at the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Event in Japan.

It's being produced by Avi Arad in collaboration with Konami and Kojima Productions for Columbia Pictures.

Arad's produced a number of films based on Marvel Comic characters—most recently The Amazing Spider-Man—and is heading the projects for many video game to film adaptations such as the Uncharted and Mass Effect movie adaptations.

Arad has also produced a Bratz movie... sooooo...

Still, it sounds promising enough, especially if Kojima and Konami remain involved in the project. Hopefully we'll hear more on the subject soon enough.

That's correct! It does sound "promising," but I have a feeling they'll put this on hiatus like another film. *cough* Gears of War *cough* Anyways, Metal Gear could be a nice action movie. It has a great story to it.

These movies never come out. I've been waiting for the World of Warcraft and Uncharted films FOREVER.

That said, I'd watch this on release day, no doubt.

Oh, and the upcoming Silent Hill film actually looks great.

At least it's not Uwe Boll doing the movie.

Its gonna be Mass Effect vs Metal Gear in the box office. Both have outstanding production companies, but no word on casting. The chick who played Starbuck in Galactica would be a great Shepard. Or Rhona Mitra. I like Gerard Butler as snake

I heard this same old story before. The closest your gonna come to a Metal Gear movie is escape from LA. On the subject there will only ever be one true actor that could ever be snake.

I want to know if Arad is going to get dickslapped by Kojima for trying to implement some Uwe Boll video game film ****. Or dickpunched. Either way, it would be an interesting YouTube video.
