Top Cow has announced that The Darkness will be turned into a film, which will delve deeper into the life of Jackie Estacado who can summon creatures from another realm to vanquish enemies of his crime family. The deal between Mandeville Films and Top Cow, who previously developed Alibi and Crosshair, was confirmed in light of Comic-Con.

Since 1996, The Darkness sold more than 25 million copies among 115 books and has spawned of course fairly successful video game of the same name and the upcoming sequel The Darkness II originally slated for October but now set for 2012.
