Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Control Your Town As Mayor In Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Posted on Thursday, October 25 @ 11:56:20 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

During this morning's Nintendo Direct, NOA announced that the long-awaited 3DS version of everyone's favorite cutesy town-building sim Animal Crossing will be subtitled New Leaf. Now I now most of you are probably expecting me to make some joke about Nintendo turning over a new leaf with the franchise, but I'll spare you.

As one might expect, the game boasts a slew of new customization options, allowing players to really take ownership of their towns. In addition, Animal Crossing: New Leaf puts you in the role of mayor. Will you use your power for the good of the town or abuse it to serve your own crooked desires? I think we all know what Daniel Bischoff plans to do...

We still don't have a firm release date, but you can expect it sometime during the first half of next year. So... who's planning to pre-order?

I am actually a bit excited for this. Playing AS the mayor sounds intriguing but I do hope the old mayor turtle isn't gone! The walking animations look funky on the new taller character model and WTF is up with K.K. Slider as the DJ?!

I don't get all the hype I've been seeing for this game
Its cool and all, you can build your town and **** but then you probably need the "codes" of other people so that they can come visit and when they do visit, the hell you gonna do? whats the point?

I think there's only one way to explain games like Animal Crossing.

Animal Crossing is one of those games that are incredibly fun, but you have no idea why. Trying to figure out why will only make you more confused.

I find the best thing to do is just take it for what it is, and if you enjoy it, don't worry about having a reason to, because you probably won't find one.

Pretty sure that it's going to use the same system as every other 3DS game used, aka you only need to have a friend on your buddy list to play in their game.
