If you plan to play Crysis 3 on max settings, now is the moment of truth.

It could be a lie! Max Payne 3 recommends an 8 core CPU, but I ran it on highest settings just fine on a high-end dual core.

Still just a quad core? You can get 6 cores for cheap... Also 8 gig ram chips are cheap too. Those are great specs for people that only play console ports maybe, but Civilization 5 has the same specs as Crysis 3 pretty much

    Nvidia GTX 680
    Intel Core i7-2600k
    8GB RAM

That's way beyond what any other game out there recommends. Remember, this is only to run it smoothly, not perfectly.

To run it "smoothly" you need only meet the minimum specs. 2GB of Ram and a lesser video card attached to a dual core.

You quoted the high performance specs.

Most computers nowadays come with 8GB of Ram or more and have a quad core running windows 8. The Nvidia video card by itself costs over $350 so in many cases, the card is more expensive than the computer.

You guys are trying way too hard to make an argument. Let me make myself very clear.

The high performance specs, which are required to run the game smoothly on max settings, not perfectly, require the absolute most expensive hardware on the market sans SLI/Crossfire.

If you don't agree with that then you're simply out to pick a fight.

problem is most new PC games(not crappy ports) should be similar, the upcoming Rome 2 Total war would be a good example as it expect it to have the same if not slightly higher requirements

my biggest issue with your build up is while the requirements are pretty high the hardware isn't exactly new and anyone already gaming on a PC shouldn't have a single issue except maybe a video card upgrade

the video card is expensive tho i'll give you that, best bet if anyone does need the upgrade your better off going SLI/Crossfire with an older card

I'm between minimum and recommended. If I felt like buying a new video card, I could probably just barely slide into the low end of high performance. I'd need to pick up a new processor to really get it done though. Luckily my new MB that I really only bought for SATA III also supports all of AMD's new processors as well as the 1090T six core that's currently sitting in it.

this game is being designed from the ground up for the Xbox360 and PS3. I'll be buying it for Xbox360. Thing is, 8GB RAM, and a quad Core with Windows 8 isn't hard to get. The nvidi card is the most expensive thing up there. Probably costs more than the computer.

There is no 3D accelerated first Person shooter from 10 years ago (2003) able to run on any smartphone. Crysis1 won't be able to run on a smartphone for a long, long, long time to come. That **** can barely run on Xbox360.

Yea gotta agree with everyone else this doesnt seem too nuts to me, less than i was expecting to be honest. Lots of people have been running the max spec system for two-three years already. I am almost right on max specs, slightly lower with a 2500k and 7950, and i built my pc on a strict, what i would consider low budget 8 months ago.

Another factor to think about is if a user wants to run the game on max settings with a high frame rate, more than likely would need SLI'd 680s which alone would cost over $900.

Might as well spend the extra 100 and get a 690. Less heat and power.
