Crysis 3's New Gun Is One Awesome Piece Of Machinery

Posted on Thursday, January 17 @ 11:45:04 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack
"Say hello to my little friend".

Crysis 3 isn't just a jump in visuals for the series, there are also some new and exciting elements such as a new weapon that gives new meaning to spray and pray.

Typhoon, the latest gun in Crysis' repertoire, is a weapon that can quickly turn the tide of battle. Hailed as "one of the world's most lethal weapons", it fires 500 rounds per seconds and lays anything in its wake to waste. Spending $20,000 tax dollars per second defeating your foes might sound impractical, but check out the trailer below and you might reconsider.

You'll be able to fire gaming's fastest weapon when Crysis 3 comes out on February 19th. For now, check out our preview where we put Crytek's upcoming juggernaut to the test.

The Metal Storm guns will probably never be used on the battlefield by soldiers aside from being mounted to tanks or used as area denial systems. Having to change out those cartridges isn't as efficient as loading an assault rifle. You have to "spray" people with rounds to kill them because the individual rounds don't have the stopping power of a .223.

Seems pretty weak, in practice. And did he just force oral on that flying creature?

The flamethrower seems to do the same damage, and why aren't the enemies filled with more holes than swiss cheese afterwards? This is fake!

    Sadly, that's far less than 500 rounds/second.

$20,000 per sec that's a lot. But I used to joke that the Thundergun in Black Ops Zombies mode cost $1 million per shot.

no its a one of the prototype weapon designs. i remember seeing it like 4-5 years ago on Future Weapons, only back then it was a metal box with 50 grenades stacked inside it that would just fire them all off in like a second

That more or less exists. It's called a Mk19 automatic grenade launcher, and it's super badass. I got to fire some practice rounds, but never got my hands on actual 40mm HEs, sadly.

That gun is nice. I would like a sniper rifle that shot explosive projectiles that detonated on impact.

Looks cool but I was hoping the culmination of 2,000 years of warfare would be peace.
