Dark Souls Collector's Edition Prepares to Die at Retail?

Have you been enjoying Dark Souls? I hope you are because there's been quite a bit of demand for the latest soul-crusher from Namco Bandai and From Software. Gamers everywhere have been hounding retailers for their pre-ordered Collector's Editions since the game's release.

Best Buy and Newegg have both been forced to offer up $20 giftcards to consumers who are getting the shaft when it comes to picking up their Collector's Edition of the game. While the limited run of Dark Souls comes with an art book and a guide you have to download in PDF format, many gamers are still demanding their due.

Honestly, I don't blame them. The Demon's Souls Collector's Edition will run a pretty penny second hand and Dark Souls appears to be in the same situation. Namco Bandai sent GameRevolution an Xbox 360 copy of the game for our review, but even we weren't given a Collector's Edition.

I've been calling all games retailers in a 20 mile radius asking about any spare Collector's Edition in stock and every time I'm asked if I preordered or not. Be prepared to die...

    I guess I just got lucky then. I'd pre-ordered my copy from Amazon way back in June, checked a few days ago and saw that it wasn't slated to arrive until almost November. I then pre-ordered at Best Buy, cancelled my Amazon order, went to pick it up only to discover that NO Best Buy got the CE for some reason.

    Of all things, walked over to Gamestop and picked up a spare copy they got with no hassle. So... basically this is the exact opposite of every usual Gamestop story I hear.

    Damn, all the Gamestops near me have said they have NO spare copies, but I'll be calling tomorrow to see if people didn't pick up their reserves.

    I just bought the regular edition from Walmart, all that collectors stuff will be available online for free later except for the cool game case you get...

    Well I was hoping to get it like in November so I guess I don't feel bad for this .but damn a Collector's Edition for the price of a regular one's always worth it.

    Wasn't it a free upgrade if you ordered from gamestop? I have it, didnt think it would be hard to find.
